Dear Maniacs, I hope you enjoy getting to know Maniac reader member Marie Simmons.
Where are you from?
New Orleans, Louisiana
Where do you live?
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
What do you do?
Computer Programmer that generates statistical reports based on health claims.
Who inspired your love for reading and how were you inspired?
My Mom gave me the bug when she taught me to read. We had an early child volume of stories. She covered all of the pages with plastic wrap. We had to read the stories out loud. Any word we could not pronounce was circled. We could not move to the next story until all the circled words were clear. Reading reminds me of the one-on-one time we shared.
What is it about reading that you most enjoy?
Reading is an escape to a new location. My father-in-law use to tell me that I enjoyed reading because it stoked my love of travel. Getting lost inside of a story helps me to relax.
What are your top three favorite fiction genres?
Notice a theme? I LOVE happily ever after.
What are you reading now?
I’m rereading the Heart/Brotherhood series by Vivian Rose Lee. I will NOT admit to how many times I’ve read the series. Don’t judge!!!
Where do you most love to read?
I don’t have a favorite location just a favorite position: Snuggled under a blanket with instrumental music softly playing in the background. I can tune out the world and simply enjoy the story.
The Fun Five
Quiet Night at Home or Night on the Town?
Please, I can’t stay awake past 9 p.m. unless I’ve taken a nap! Now watching the sunrise with my hubby from our balcony overlooking the ocean/mountain/city is ALWAYS a winner.
Wine & Cheese or Beer & Pretzels?
How about hot chocolate and pound cake? Although I do miss beer with boiled crawfish and margarita on the rocks with nachos. I think I’m the only person who tours wineries and breweries and doesn’t actually drink.
Camping in the Woods or Sunning & Swimming at the Beach?
Okay, I don’t sleep anywhere without indoor plumbing and a light switch. Since GOD created me well done, I don’t SUN. I do enjoy lounging under an umbrella at the beach with ice water at the ready!
Comedies or Dramas?
Is sci-fi considered a drama? I mean, life without Star Trek and Star Wars is unimaginable.
What’s your favorite season?
Winter! I’m a January baby. I love layering on the clothes and visiting snowy locations. Notice I said visiting. Anyplace north of I-10 is just too cold to live.
